Let’s talk about content warnings for a second.
A trigger warning, content warning, or content note is a brief heads-up about material that may be emotionally difficult or activating for some readers. These notices exist to help people make informed choices about what they consume, when, and in what headspace.
You might see them abbreviated as:
- TW – Trigger Warning
- CW – Content Warning
- CN – Content Note
While some people distinguish between the terms, they all serve the same purpose here: respect, transparency, and reader care.
This isn’t a new concept. Film, television, and visual media have used content warnings for decades, usually at the beginning of shows and movies. Books deserve the same consideration, especially fiction that explores intense, emotional, or dark subject matter.
Why I Use Content Warnings
You never know who is picking up a book, where they are in their life, or what they’re carrying with them. As an author, one of the last things I ever want to do is hurt my readers unintentionally.
Content warnings aren’t about spoiling stories or censoring creativity. They’re about choice. You deserve to decide what you’re ready for.
Themes & Topics Commonly Found in My Books
Across my catalog, my stories may include some or all of the following themes:
- Strong language
- Detailed, sexually explicit scenes (including MFMM/group intimacy)
- Alcohol use and depictions of drug use
- Power dynamics and contractual relationships
- Deception, secrets, inheritance pressure, and family conflict
- Trauma, recovery, and emotional breakdowns
Additional sensitive content may include:
- PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, and survivor’s guilt
- References to past suicidal ideation
- Wartime memories and natural disaster sequences
- Violence against a medical patient
- Physical, emotional, and domestic abuse
- Drugging and poisoning
- Murder and torture
- Sexual assault, rape, grooming, and incest
- Bondage, blood play, impact play (spanking), breath play (choking), and trampling
- Needles and medical trauma
Not every book contains every topic, but these are themes that appear across my work and may require discretion depending on the reader.
A Note on Reader Care
You can—and should—warn for difficult material. That applies to books, social media posts, videos, and images alike. Transparency matters. Compassion matters.
If at any point you’re unsure whether a book is right for you, I strongly encourage you to review content warnings before reading. Your well-being always comes first.
